Come along and join in a class at the demo area – think Tai Chi, Yoga, martial arts, swing dance. Your door fee includes participation in any of the demos during any one day.

You might want to wear your stretchy clothes and bring along your yoga mat – it’s up to you!

Jaine Kirtley

Jaine Kirtley has been helping people regain and find great health for over 30 years. She is a naturopath, nutritionist and registered nurse (mental health). Jaine helps stimulate natural healing through diet, exercises, herbal medicine and lifestyle changes.

In this demo you will learn easy breathing techniques and stretches which you can use at any time to relax your body and mind. By becoming aware of our breathing and making subtle changes we release tension in the mind and body. Learning breathing exercises also helps improve energy, clarity of speech and self-confidence.

3118 Yoga
Kati Grodecki

Katia Grodecki, founder of 3118 Yoga in Papamoa, became intrigued with yoga at a young age after discovering a book on Hatha yoga on her parents’ bookshelf. She has been practising consistently since 1998 and leading classes since 2011. Katia strives every day to inspire and skillfully support others in the community on their path to becoming the best version of themselves by choosing a sustainable approach toward a well-balanced, healthy lifestyle.

Katia will lead you through a mindfulness meditation and breathing technique, followed by a brief chair yoga practice that will allow you to connect your breath to simple movements to help you find your centre while releasing tension.

Martial Arts Academy
Christine Young

Christine Young, co-founder of The Martial Arts Academy NZ, is passionate about martial arts for women. All the martial arts taught at the Academy give women increased confidence and a tool box of skills to use should a self-defence situation arise. The Academy promotes a healthy lifestyle via training mind, body and spirit through group classes, seminars, and one-on-one lessons. Aikido, BJJ, Karate, Boxing, Taekwon-Do, Muay Thai , Kung Fu, Tai Chi and Kempo are available to all age groups and abilities.

Christine and her team will demonstrate skills to use should a self-defence situation ever arise. In the second demo, visitors will be encouraged to take part in a few martial arts exercises and moves.

Learn a few quick dance moves.
West Coast Swing Dance
Watch a short demo by the West Coast Swing dancers and then join in to learn a few quick moves. Lessons with this rapidly growing dance trend will have you dancing to all kinds of music anywhere, anytime … and with anyone! Good for your body and soul.

Musical Interlude with Moone

Singer, performer, songwriter Moone, Marama Rice, draws on musical influences from James Brown, Johnny Cash, Janice Joplin, Bob Marley and Prince.

Pilates seems to be on everyone’s ‘to do’ list these days – fans rave about their sculpted muscles, increased flexibility, better posture and improved sense of wellbeing. Owner of Bodysense Pilates Studio in Bethlehem, Genevieve Key will share the wonders of the ‘Wunda’ Chair on the Saturday and on Sunday, exercises from the Barre series.

The Nourishing Lotus
Megan Troup

Through conscious movement and conscious breathing we can begin to cultivate awareness and connection to the felt sensations found within our body, and begin to release tension held in the physical body and subtle layers of our being.

Megan will demonstrate a gentle standing practice suitable for women of all ages, working through areas of the body that commonly hold tension, restrict and contract. As we begin to release these areas we find freedom in movement and lightness in being once again. There is no limitation to starting a yoga practice … as long as you can breathe, you can practise yoga.

Jazz operates her business from Bay Health Clinic teaching relaxation and personal training. Jazz is also a sports massage therapist.

Posture Correction: Jazz will talk about the positive attributes for massage and will demo posture correction and how to maintain good posture through simple exercises. The demo will include stretching exercises and belly breathing.
